Walmart is under fire for an online ad that used a racial slur.

On Monday, the website offered a wig cap for $7.28 that described its color as n-word brown. Once the company got wind of the item, it was removed almost immediately.

"We are very sorry and appalled that this third party seller listed their item with this description on our online marketplace," Wal-Mart said on Twitter. "It is a clear violation of our policy and has been removed, and we are investigating the seller to determine how this could have happened."

Walmart told The Huffington Post that product information is "provided by manufacturers, suppliers and others, and has not been verified by us."

And after digging further, the super center said the flub was caused by a business posing as a U.K. company called Jagazi Natural. The actual company does not carry the wig cap that was advertised.

"The real Jagazi is a 100% black company for black people. People have often used our brand name to try and sell their fake products," the company said in a statement on its website. "Please be aware. Very sorry for all the distress this has caused. We are feeling the pain here as well. Most shocking!"

Walmart said it is in the process of suspending the fake account and continuing its investigations.
