It’s no secret avocados are good for you. But there is a low-fat version that may have even more health benefits.

Eurobanan’s Isla Bonita brand, a Spanish fruit company, recently launched "Avocado Light" — a lower-calorie, low-fat avocado.

A regular avocado found in a grocery store has about 234 calories and 21 grams of fat, but the diet one cuts the grams of fat by 30 percent.

The healthier one is also described as having a "mild" flavor, "juicier" pulp, and slower oxidization, the company site says. It also noted that it's ideal for smoothies, cold soup, gazpacho, cocktails, and several other dishes.

"Many customers and consumers who are passionate about this fruit have regretted not being able to incorporate it more often into their diet. Others directly pass up on their nutritional advantages because these don't compensate for their high caloric value," Ramón Rey, director of the International and Marketing area of Isla Bonita, told FreshPlaza. "It is our responsibility to bet on fruits with the nutritional properties that our clients and consumers expect."

Avocado Light hit the market earlier this month, but it is currently being sold in Spain only. There is no word on whether it will be available elsewhere.
