A driver was killed in a tractor-trailer fire that shut down both directions of I-75 in Henry County early Tuesday.

The tractor-trailer was traveling in the right southbound lane when the vehicle veered left and overturned, Henry County police Sgt. Danny Gibbs said.

A fuel line ruptured and caught fire.

“The driver did not escape the vehicle and is deceased,” Gibbs said. “We have no identification on the driver at this time.”

Traffic investigators and HERO units are on the scene.

Two northbound lanes and one southbound lane of I-75 remain closed.

The GDOT is urging drivers to use alternate routes to avoid delays.
