A Gwinnett County restaurant failed its recent health inspection after officials reported watching an employee smoke a cigarette inside.

Carnival Karaoke, located at 3740 Shackleford Road in Duluth, got a 54/U on the Friday afternoon inspection.

According to the inspection report, officials found an employee "smoking in [the] food preparation" when they visited the restaurant. Raw eggs, raw chicken and raw pork were all stored over ready-to-eat foods as well.

One batch of soup had been kept too long after being cooked, officials said, and another was cooling improperly.

The restaurant was also cited for "butane lighters," "fuel cans," toothpaste and mouthwash being stored near food items.

Attempts to contact Carnival Karaoke for comment were unsuccessful Wednesday. A follow-up inspection will be completed within 10 days of Friday's failing evaluation.
