Five teens have been charged with robbing a 17-year-old girl at gunpoint who was trying to buy drugs, Acworth police said Wednesday.

Justin Chatmon, 19, of Acworth along with three 17-year-olds and a 16-year-old face charges.

Police said the group had small amounts of marijuana and barbiturates (often sleeping pills) on them when they were arrested. One of the 17-year-olds was the gunman, police said.

The girl got into a blue Chevrolet Suburban with the group about 8 p.m. on June 1 at Loring Road and Cobb Parkway, police said.

After they drove to a nearby shopping center, the gunman forced her out of the vehicle and the group stole cash and a gift card from her.

As of Thursday afternoon, Chatmon and the 17-year-olds remained in Cobb jail without bond.
