DeKalb offers free hazardous waste disposal

DeKalb residents can recycle old car batteries, paints, aerosols and lawn care products for free on Oct. 15.

DeKalb County residents can dispose of old car batteries, lawn care products and fluorescent light bulbs at a hazardous household waste disposal event Oct. 15.

The county will also accept paint, mercury, aerosols, adhesives, flammables, photo chemicals, art supplies and swimming pool chemicals.

Recycling these materials is free, and the event is open only to DeKalb residents. Commercial vehicles won’t be allowed to dispose of their waste.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the DeKalb Sanitation Division’s Central Transfer Station at 3720 Leroy Scott Drive. Information: 404-294-2900.
