Man accused of robbing Marietta travel agency arrested; second man on run

Police have arrested one of the two masked gunmen accused of threatening to blow up a Marietta travel agency during an armed robbery, authorities confirmed.

Sergio Hernandez, 32, is accused of trying to rob Servi Giros off Windy Hill Road on Jan. 6, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Surveillance video outside the travel agency appears to show Hernandez and the other man without their masks on. Once they enter the business, one of them is accused of pouring gasoline on the counter and threatening to blow it up, AJC.com previously reported.

The men questioned a couple inside the agency’s lobby, but they left without stealing anything after the owner pushed a panic-alarm button inside his locked office.

Hernandez and his accomplice also allegedly robbed Los Vaqueros Western Wear, which is about a mile away, two days later, Channel 2 reported.

The details are similar, since the business reported that two masked gunmen entered the business and left with cash and a customer’s cellphone, the news station reported.

Hernandez was arrested Sunday and faces three felony charges of armed robbery, Cobb County Jail records show. He also has a hold placed on him by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. He remains in jail without bond.

Cobb County police told Channel 2 that he lived less than a mile from the two businesses. They also believe the other man is still in the area.
