A Fayetteville man shot and killed his nephew last weekend at their family’s junkyard, officials said.

Fayette County Sheriff Barry H. Babb announced Friday that 68-year-old Michael Graves had been arrested and charged with malice murder, felony murder and two counts of aggravated assault. He is accused of killing his nephew, 42-year-old Jason Brett Graves, on Feb. 20.

Deputies responded to 205 Easton Road — Graves Used Cars and Parts, according to the Fayette County News — at around 6:30 p.m. that day, finding the younger Graves lying on the ground with "multiple gunshot wounds to the chest." He later died at Fayette Piedmont Hospital.

Michael Graves was charged Friday “based on subsequent interviews by investigators,” Babb said in an emailed statement. He is being held in the Fayette County jail without bond.

A possible motive for the shooting was unclear.
