Police: Man clears salon, then fatally shoots employee, turns gun on himself

One woman is dead and the suspected gunman is in the hospital.

A man told everyone to leave a Gwinnett County hair salon Monday morning before fatally shooting his female companion and turning the gun on himself, police told Channel 2 Action News.

Channel 2 chopper footage showed the scene outside Edge Total Hair, which is in a shopping center in the 2600 block of Pleasant Hill Road. Duluth police officers are on the scene.

According to the news station, the woman worked at the salon. The man has been taken to Gwinnett Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. His condition is unknown.

Officers were first called to the scene about 10 a.m., Duluth police officer Ted Sadowski told Channel 2. They found the woman dead in the parking lot.

She had been shot three times, once execution-style, the news station reported.

“As they went into the location, they saw another person shot, a male ...  (with) a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,” Sadowski said.

The woman’s daughter was inside the hair salon when the shooting took place, Channel 2 reported. The daughter’s age has not been released.

Entrances to Walmart and other stores in the shopping center are closed while police continue their investigation.
