A vehicle that was on fire in the parking deck of WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta has been extinguished, fire officials said.

The vehicle caught fire on the second floor of the deck about noon Thursday. The fire is still under investigation, but it does not appear to be incendiary, Marietta Fire Marshal Tim Nalley said.

Nicole Gustin, a spokeswoman for WellStar, said a fire alarm alerted hospital security.

“Our security officers immediately responded, using fire extinguishers to contain the fire until the Marietta Fire Department arrived and put out the fire,” she told AJC.com. “Because of these quick actions, there were no injuries, the fire did not spread and the parking deck is safe.”

Marietta police asked drivers to avoid Church Street at Tower Road while emergency crews were on scene. As of 1:40 p.m., Nalley said the vehicle was removed from the parking deck and normal operations had resumed.
