July Fourth isn't just about Independence Day for Atlantans, it's also about the AJC Peachtree Road Race, which has recently been named one of the 20 most iconic American races that aren't marathons.

Runner's World, a publication dedicated to news, tips and gear for runners, recently released its list, dubbing the AJC Peachtree Road Race "the largest 10K in the world."

With approximately 57,000 finishers each year, the 48-year-old race attracts 150,000 spectators who watch participants zip through Buckhead, pass through Midtown and celebrate at the finish line in Piedmont Park.

And the fun begins before the actual race, too. Fans can enter the T-shirt design contest for a chance to win $1,000.
