Dear Readers,

Like most people nowadays, when I take a vacation with my wife or my family, I’ll take a few photos of us enjoying ourselves that I will share with friends and colleagues on social media. It’s always great to read the comments on those pictures, especially if one of my friends has been to the same spot and wants to tell me about his or her reaction. I also like it when friends are inspired by my favorite places and want to visit. They’ll often ask for suggestions for activities or a dinner recommendation, for which I’m happy to oblige.

Sharing information about vacations is among the reasons I’m so excited about Take a Break, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s 2015 travel guide.

In this special section we are sharing our recommendations for 40 compelling destinations around the world that can be enjoyed traveling solo, with a group of friends, with your spouse or with family. Our journalists also will help you to explore these diverse locations, whether you’re on a budget or having a once-in-a-lifetime splurge.

As you make plans for your next adventure, the AJC will provide you with a wealth of information that can take to you everywhere from the theme parks in Florida to that dream safari in South Africa.

We know that our readers love to share travel stories. So, we’d love to hear from you if you are planning to go to any of the locations in this section. If you catch a big one on your next fishing trip with your dad, send us a picture. If you’ve booked a romantic weekend in Georgia’s Golden Isles, tell us about it. You can share your stories and pictures through any of our social media platforms by posting on the AJC Facebook page, or on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtag #atltravel.

And, of course, if you want to discuss the section the old-fashioned way, please send me an email at kriley@ajc.com.

We hope you enjoy this section.

Sincerely,

Kevin Riley
