Spoleto Festival USA, Charleston, May 27-June 12

This is one of the premier arts festivals in the nation. Since 1977, Spoleto has featured the finest in opera, theater, dance, and jazz, classical and other genres of music. It's named after the Italian city of Spoleto, home to the festival that inspired Charleston's Spoleto. This year's festival will feature special performances by Americana string band Old Crow Medicine Show and a finale show by Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats. Ticket prices vary by event. Ticket packages that include accommodations are available starting at $299. 843-579-3100, spoletousa.org.

Euphoria, Greenville, Sept. 22-25

Activities take place in a revitalized downtown area and at facilities along the banks of the Reedy River, which flows through the city. This year's festival will include performances by Nashville singer-songwriters Keith Anderson and Tim Nichols.
