The seventh installment of “Scream,” after multiple delays, is scheduled to be shot in metro Atlanta in January 2025.

The film will be based out of Douglasville’s Great Point Studios (also known as Lionsgate Studios), which has leased out the space. The “Scream” franchise is created by Spyglass Media. Lionsgate in 2022 paid $191.4 million for a library of 200 films and an 18.9 percent preferred equity interest in Spyglass Media.

“Scream 7″ is set to begin production Jan. 7 and run through March 12, according to IATSE 479, the union that represents most crew members. Talent agent Jason Lockhart said he’s casting actors for the movie.

Neve Campbell is reprising her role as Sidney Prescott. She appeared in the first five films and is coming back for the seventh.

“Those movies have been such a big part of my life and it means so much to me, and I was sad to miss the last one [due to a salary disagreement], to not be a part of it,” she told People. “I was really grateful that they came back to me in a respectful way. I think that means a lot to women and to society. I’m grateful to be able to step in into Sidney’s shoes again and tell her story.”

Kevin Williamson, who wrote the original “Scream” and two of its sequels, will also return as director. There is no confirmation if Courteney Cox is returning.

But neither Jenny Ortega nor Melissa Barrera, who were in the fifth and sixth installments, are going to be part of “Scream 7.” Spyglass Media Group fired Barrera over her public pro-Palestinian views regarding the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, while Ortega’s camp cited scheduling conflicts for her departure, according to Entertainment Weekly.

The franchise, which launched in 1996, has grossed more than $908 million in the box office globally.

“Scream 2″ was partially shot in metro Atlanta, including at Agnes Scott College, in 1997.
