The Snellville Beach Blast is just around the corner, so get your sunscreen and swimwear ready. It’s going to be a fun weekend.
Snellville is bringing the beach to the Towne Green in front of city hall at 2342 Oak Road on Saturday, May 13, by bringing in 80 tons of white sand. To bring the entire experience to life, two musical guests will be aiding in the fun to help Georgia residents beat the heat.
DJ Lee will play from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., and the Good Measure will play from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
“Good Measure will keep you on your feet, so bring your dancin’ shoes and have some fun with us as we ROCK away on the Snellville Towne Green,” the event’s website said.
With a $15 all-day activity band, patrons can enjoy the Big Kahuna Water Slide, inflatable slides, an inflatable obstacle course, an inflatable bounce house, inflatable basketball, the trackless train ride, 9-hole mini golf and the “infamous” gaming bus and virtuix omni. Patrons can also purchase tickets for individual attractions if they prefer.
“We transform Oak Rd. into a beach with 80 tons of sand,” event coordinator Kelly McAloon told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “New this year is the Prehistoric Nation Dinosaur Encounter with two shows. Meet Tulsa, the 9′ tall 20″ long T-rex, and Bleu, the 8′ tall velociraptor. DJ Lee will keep everyone entertained with music fun and games until 3:00 p.m., when the Good Measure Band takes the stage. This is a Rock, Pop and Dance Favorite band.”
Lincoln Fill Station will provide beer and wine for the event, and a long list of food vendors, including Fratelli’s, Berens Frozen Custard, Rey’s Cuban Cafe, Chick-fil-A, 4 Amigos Mexican, Atlanta Seafood Truck, Ms. Jay’s Funnel Cakes and Dolphins Water Ice, will be present.
The city will also be giving away beach balls to the first 250 kids to attend the Beach Blast.
“In addition to the Beach Balls, we will be giving away a wooden nickel that marks Snellville Centennial year that we will be celebrating all year at all of our events,” McAloon said.
