Calling all athletes and outdoor enthusiasts — Academy Sports + Outdoors (Academy) is hosting a three-day grand opening celebration at its new Conyers location full of fun for the whole family. And the festivities include an appearance of the Atlanta Braves’ 2021 World Series trophy.

The store, located at 1448 Old Salem Road, will kick off festivities with a ribbon-cutting event on Friday with celebrations continuing through the weekend. The free events include giveaways and interactive demonstrations, complimentary food truck bites, a special appearance from the Braves mascot Blooper and former Braves third baseman Terry Pendleton, a meet and greet with professional angler Hunter Shryock and more.

“Academy Sports + Outdoors is excited to serve the Conyers, GA community and provide customers the gear that makes having fun easy and affordable,” Sam Johnson, Academy’s executive vice president of retail operations, said in a news release. “From Truist Park to Black Shoals Park, Conyers is a hub for outdoor life, and home to passionate sports fans, and active families. We look forward to providing a convenient location that offers top brands, value, and excellent customer service.”

In addition to fun freebies, customers can expect to find incredible savings on brands such as Nike, North Face, Columbia and more. Teachers and school staff will receive 10% off online and in-store purchases until May 8.

Academy’s new Conyers location is the first of two new stores set to open in the Atlanta metro area this year, with the second to open in the fall near Perimeter Center. The store will create approximately 60 new jobs in the community. If interested in applying for one, visit careers.academy.com.
