World leaders, Americans equally praise, condemn Trump recognizing Jerusalem as capital of Israel
The news Wednesday of President Donald Trump declaring that the United States will recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel has led some to rejoice and others to condemn the decision.
The recognition means Jerusalem will become the site of the U.S. embassy in the near future, moving from its current location in Tel Aviv.

Those opposing the decision say Trump’s announcement will lead to calamity in the area for the countries that side with the rest of the Arab world.
A senior Palestinian official said Wednesday that the decision means “the peace process is finished” because Washington “has already pre-empted the outcome,” The Associated Press reported.
Others like Prime Minister of Israel Benjamin Netanyahu have graciously thanked Trump, adding the “Jewish people and the Jewish state will be forever grateful.”

House Speaker Paul Ryan also applauded the president’s call to recognize Jerusalem.
🇮🇱 https://t.co/o6hg19Rl0W— Paul Ryan (@SpeakerRyan) December 6, 2017RT to agree → This day is long overdue. Jerusalem has been, and always will be, the eternal, undivided capital of the State of Israel.
Leaders from France and the UK denounced the decision.
It is a regrettable decision taken by the Americans vis-à-vis Jerusalem. France does not approve, it contradicts international law and it ignores UN Security Council resolutions.

Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, including occupied Palestinian territory, is a reckless threat to peace. The British Government must condemn this dangerous act and work for a just and viable settlement of the conflict.

Echoing the president of Palestine’s sentiment that naming Jerusalem capital will break ‘peace’ in the region, Saeb Erakat, Israel’s capital, chief Palestinian negotiator, called Trump’s resolution the “biggest mistake of his life.”

Thousands of Twitter users also chimed in Wednesday with a mixture of disdain and praise.
President Trump is the only one Presidential enough to actually keep his promise of moving the US embassy to Jerusalem.

Gee. I wonder who will be causing this violence? MUSLIMS.
Making decisions based on how terrorists might react is literally the definition of terrorism winning.
Trump's Jerusalem speech is a giant slap in the face to Palestinians, Christians and Muslims alike, as well as anyone who supports international law and/or opposes settler colonialism (which Israel has long imposed on Palestinians.)
