The 3,600-square-foot home has four bedrooms, three full and two half baths, plus a 900-square-foot, one-bedroom apartment above the garage.

The bay window in the living room provides views of the outdoor entertaining area. A wooden pergola links the house to the two-car garage, which has second-story 900-square-foot apartment. A pool was also put in during the renovations.

Michael and Nancy Halwig rebuilt their Midtown Atlanta home in 2009, using the 1916 plans for the Georgian Revival home. The exterior is painted in Composed with trim in Statuesque by Behr.

Reupholstered furniture casts shapely silhouettes in the formal living room. The room is painted in Behr's Classic Silver while the trim is in Benjamin Moore's Snowfall White.

Built-in bookshelves and a sectional wrap around the great room. The shelves were designed to accommodate the flat-screen TV from their previous home.The coffered ceiling adds dimension while the expansive open windows offer a view to the backyard.

A grandfather clock is a distinguishing interior feature, among the traditional furnishings, and the oval window is positioned near the front door of the home, modeled after the original 1916 house.

A neutral chaise lounge offers a restful spot next to the fireplace in the formal living room. The furniture is upholstered in fabric from Lewis and Sheron Textiles, with a box pleat. A booth distinguishes the breakfast nook, which was carved out of a closet in a main floor bedroom and is one of Michael and Nancy Halwig's favorite spaces.

The dining room opens to the living room in the Midtown Atlanta home, which was built in 1916 but demolished and rebuilt, using the original plans. Craig Davis of Castlecraft Homes was the builder, and Todd Pritchett and Craig Dixon of Pritchett + Dixon Residential Design were the architects.

The kitchen island opens to the great room and looks out onto the backyard. A Viking induction cooktop is built in.

A bookshelf fills the space outside of a bedroom on the second level of the Midtown Atlanta home. The home was rebuilt in 2009 after the original 1916 plans.

The stairwell is coated in Classic Silver by Behr.

Marble wraps around and within the master bathroom, which has a freestanding tub. "We were able to create a large master bath with his and her closets in the space that had been the dining room and kitchen of the prior upstairs apartment," said homeowner Michael Halwig.

An wine cellar is housed in the home's full basement. A partial basement was expanded during the rebuilding of the Midtown home.

When the Halwigs rebuilt their historic 1916 house, they added a patio and in-ground pool. "They serve as a quiet calm oasis within the active Midtown area," Halwig said.

The basement redo gave the couple room for a workout room. They've decorated with a framed guitar, Yale University flag and marlin.

A highlight of the dining room is the Murano glass chandelier from The Big Chandelier. A flower and vine trellis rug complements the pattern on the upholstered chairs. The walls are painted Pediment by Sherwin-Williams.

A grand piano has a prominent position in the Midtown Atlanta home. A Chopin bust rests on the piano. "Our piano fit nicely in the entry foyer hall that had served as entrances for the prior duplex property," homeowner Michael Halwig said.
