Photos: Avondale Estates couple find ‘perfect’ home in 1920’s bungalow

The home was built in 1928 in Avondale Estates' historic district. The 2,238-square-foot home has four bedrooms and three baths.

The farmhouse sink is from Ferguson, and Graccioza's Grafico linens are used in the kitchen.

In the kitchen, the Wickings chose Nova Blanca marble for the countertop and backsplash because it's known for being a high-traffic marble that doesn't stain easily, Nicole Wicking said. The glass pendant is from Circa Lighting.

After purchasing the home, the couple's renovation plans involved removing walls to expand the kitchen and add an island. Nicole Wicking chose shiplap for the walls because it brings a classic farmhouse feel and is easy to clean, she said.

Many of the paintings in the home are by Nicole Wicking's sister, local artist Kendra Howard.

In the office, art from the couple's time living in Japan hangs over a RH desk.

Downstairs, the family room is a colorful space where aboriginal art from Robert Wicking's homeland of Australia is displayed.

In Finnley's room, Nicole Wicking used large horizontal stripes on the walls to make the small space feel larger. The rug is from Jonathan Adler.

The family's goldendoodle, Basher Bill, lounges in the master bedroom.

A chandelier from Circa Lighting adds farmhouse flair to the dining room.

The herringbone tiles in the renovated bathroom contrast with the marble countertop, and gold accents bring polish to the space.

The multilevel gold coffee table and other metallics add a modern touch to the living room of the bungalow.

The interiors have a French country flair with metallic accents. The coffee table is from Ro Sham Beaux and the leather armchairs are from Vanguard Furniture.

In daughter Harper's work space, the desk is from RH and the chandelier belonged to her mother, Nicole Wicking, when she was a little girl.

Decorative pillows complete the bedroom's color scheme. In the guest room, the teal pillow is from the Kevin O'Brien collection.

An iron bed frame lends an antique air to the guest room, which is dressed with two coverlets.

Nicole and Robert Wicking live in the 1928 bungalow with their children Harper, 11, and Finnley, 9, and their goldendoodle, Basher Bill. Nicole is national sales manager for Bovi Fine Linens and Graccioza Bath Linens, and Robert works in wealth management for U.S. Trust.
