A man pulled over by DeKalb County police in Georgia shot himself in the head Thursday afternoon before the officer could speak to him, according to police.

The man, whose name was not released, was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in grave condition, Capt. Steven Fore said.

Police were attempting to stop the man for speeding on I-20 westbound just before Flat Shoals Road.

The shooting closed several lanes of I-20 in the area.
