So, how will you spend your weekend?
Here are a few of those such options in DeKalb County this weekend:
- Alphas Back to School Boot Camp: Back to school can be a pain for parents and kids alike. This weekend, the Nu Mu Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. is trying to make it a little easier with a Back to School Boot Camp at Redan High School, 5247 Redan Rd, Stone Mountain. The boot camp starts at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, July 30 and will feature workshops for students to help jumpstart the new school year. DeKalb County School Board members will also be there.
- Concerts at Eddie's Attic: Eddie's always has something to offer the music lover. At this intimate venue, located at 515 N. McDonough St. in Decatur, listeners can gather to hear live music performances from up-and-coming artists. Eddie's is hosting numerous artists all weekend long, including Angie Aparo recording a live album 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
- Avondale Estates Farmer's Market: On Avondale road, Sunday means a morning trip to the farmer's market. Vendors from across the county gather at 22 North Avondale Road from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday. Stop by to pick up fresh vegetables of just to enjoy a stroll through the market. For a morning pick me up, swing by Banjo's stand and enjoy a cold brew coffee.
- Visit the CDC Museum: To see captivating exhibitions, visit the David J. Sencer CDC Museum. From now until Oct. 25, the museum is featuring the Where Children Sleep exhibit, a series of photographs by James Mollison that "captures deeply personal portraits of children from around the world, alongside images of where they sleep each night." This one-of-a-kind exhibit is sure to bring out the intropective artist in you.
