Looking for new and exciting things to try out this weekend?

Well, look no further.

Here's a short list of some fun things Dekalb residents can try out this weekend:

Contra Dancing: It's time to get your jig on! The hybrid between swing dancing and square dancing is back. It's easy to learn and open to all ages. The dance starts at 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Clarkston Community Center Activity Field, 3701 College Avenue in Clarkston. Beginner lessons start at 7:30 p.m.

Light My Fire – Melting and Welding Steel: Release your inner pyrotechnic at The Spruill Center for the Arts' workshop that teaches torch and welder manipulation. The class begins at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 16, and there will be two three hour sessions spread out over two days.

During the first day of lessons on July 16, you'll work with an oxy-acetylene torch for cutting and bending steel. On July 17, you will receive the chance to be hands on with a MIG welder. There will be a $35 materials fee and $25 lab fee payable with registration. The Spruill Center's is located at 5339 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd, Dunwoody.

Paint like Georgia O'Keeffe: The Spruill Center for the Arts is also  hosting a class on how to manipulate color and composition to create a painting that mirrors O'Keeffe's creative, unique style. The lesson begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday,  July 16.

Pay a $5 supply fee if you want to try pastels, or bring your own supplies. It's advised to bring a sack lunch. Visit here for more information on the art instructors.

Steve Gunn at Eddie's Attic:  New York-based guitarist and songwriter Steve Gunn will be preforming at 7 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Eddie's Attic, 515-B North McDonough Street, Decatur.Tickets range from $12-16. Get tickets here.
