Sandy Springs' annual tribute to Martin Luther King Jr. is just around the corner.
The 11th yearly event will take place Jan. 16 at city hall, 7840 Roswell Road, at 10 a.m. City offices will be closed to observe the holiday.
The keynote speaker will be civil rights activist, broadcaster and Trumpet Awards founder Xernona Clayton.

Other speakers include Reverend Ricardo Green of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church, Rabbi Analia Bortz of Congregation Or Hadash and Pastor Henry Bush of Sharon Community Church.
As in previous years, Sandy Springs businessman Oz Hill will emcee, Spalding Drive Charter Elementary School students will sing and the North Springs Charter High School’s ROTC will perform the presentation of the colors ceremony.
The city will also present the 2017 Humanitarian Award to a Sandy Springs individual who “embodies King’s history of character and service,” according to the city’s website.
