This Wednesday, popular dog sitting app Rover is launching its new on-demand feature enabling pet owners to book a dog walker for a walk within the hour.

The new feature, called Rover Now, costs $12 for a 30-minute walk and $18 for an hour’s worth. Users can book from a list of prescreened walkers, all of whom have completed Rover’s safety education and passed an enhanced background check.

“At Rover, we’re always looking for new ways to make it easier for pet parents to find 5-star care in their area, whether you’re stuck at work, heading out on last minute travel, or simply ensuring your dog gets a much needed midday walk,” Jenna White, senior director of dog walking operations at Rover, said in a statement. “With the launch of Rover Now, pet parents throughout Atlanta can now quickly book a half-hour walk for their dog at the same cost as buying lunch. Our new cost-friendly, convenient dog walking option is a huge relief for pet parents and dogs alike.”

In 2017, The AJC reported on a similar feature from dog walking app Wag! While the company didn't specify numbers, the Wag! website says walks are typically available between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. and that during peak hours, "most on-demand services are filled within 30 minutes of booking."

Wag! walks cost $20 for a 30-minute walk and $30 for a deluxe one-hour walk.
