Historic Marietta Square New Year's Eve celebration

Find more information here.

The historic Marietta Square is expected to commemorate New Year's Eve with a ball drop for the first time this Thursday.

The ball, which is actually an 8-foot cube with a ball inside, was designed by an engineering team at Kennesaw State University.

The New Year's Eve celebration will include ice sculpting, cosmic golfing and ice skating.

Police will enforce full road closures in the area surrounding the square Thursday.

Marietta Square is also hosting its first Winter Wonderland, complete with an outdoor ice skating rink and Santa's Workshop.
