When the Decatur Farmers Market opens for the season on April 18, shoppers will notice something missing at First Baptist Church. Namely, the farmers market.

That's because the Saturday market will have a new home and name this year, as Oakhurst Farmers Market in the Oakhurst neighborhood.

“Sceptre Brewing Arts serves as a generous host, lending their front lot and relaxing patio to the weekly market gathering,” a press release from Community Farmers Markets states.

Community Farmers Markets is a coaltion of local markets, including Decatur, Oakhurst, Ponce City and others.

“We are so very excited to take root in a meaningful way with our new Oakhurst Community,” market manager Casey Hood said.

Hood told Decaturish that CFM "decided to spread the love over to Oakhurst and reach a larger community. We are excited for the central location of Harmony Park and all of the natural foot traffic in the area."

First Baptist Church will continue to host the Wednesday market, however.

And both locations will match your SNAP/EBT dollars. When you spend $10 of EBT, you get $20 worth of fresh, local food. Wooden EBT tokens can be used on any EBT-qualifying food item, but the matching green tokens can be used to purchase fruits and vegetables only.
