About eight years ago, someone in Cobb County figured out that the only way to make an Easter egg hunt better was to add a helicopter.
This year’s Northeast Cobb Community Egg Drop will be April 15 at Sprayberry High School, 2525 Sandy Plains Road in Marietta.
Organizers estimate that 18,000 people attended last year. This year it runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and a portion of the proceeds go to Sprayberry Football Booster Club.
Children ages three and younger will have the chance to pick up regular on-the-ground eggs at 11:30 a.m.
But at 1:30 p.m., the helicopters arrives and starts dropping its 90,000-egg payload for the children four to seven. There will also be an egg hunt for children with special needs at 2 p.m.
At 3:30 p.m., children ages eight to 10 will start their hunt.
There’s an event for the bunnies, too. Toddlers can also hunt for eggs in the food court area at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.m.
There will face-painting, a comedy show, inflatable slides, bounce houses and more.
