Kennesaw is about to unveil Cobb County’s latest weapon to beat the summer heat.

The city said its new splash pad will open June 7 after three months of construction.

The 3,200-square-foot aquatic amenity was designed to use little standing water and instead will offer up wet fun with motion-controlled jets and nozzles, according to a 2014 master plan for its home, Swift-Cantrell Park.

The project was announced in February with an estimated cost of $425,000 to be funded by the 2016 SPLOST, or Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax.

A ribbon-cutting on opening day is scheduled for 9:30 a.m., and admission will be free throughout the day.

After then, it’ll cost $2 for people older than age 2. Cash and credit cards will be accepted, according to a news release.

Daily hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., except Thursdays, the city said. Splash pad season at the park, 3140 Old 41 Highway NW, will run from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

Children younger than 12 must have adult supervision.

Don’t worry, adults: The city has promised the area is all enclosed and includes shade structures along with seating.

Here's all the rules from the city's parks department:
