After 20 years of people being flung from bulls, the Cobb County Rodeo has added several new events to the two-day festivity.

The rodeo will be held at Jim R. Miller Park, 2245 Callaway Road in Marietta, on Friday and Saturday.

Of course there’ll be bull riding and team roping and steer wrestling, but new to the scene will be a Cowboy Con, a truck meet and car shows for unique and classic rides.

According to organizers, those participating in the vehicle competitions must enter the back gate between 5 and 6 p.m. To compete, it's $20 ahead of time or $25 at the gate. The rules are: "no burnouts, no revving, no disrespect, respect the lot and the hosts" and failure to do any of that means dismissal. Cash and trophies will be given out both nights to winners.

The Cowboy Con is exactly like it sounds: "Just come in the main gate of rodeo dressed as your favorite Western movie, TV or comic character," said organizers. "... We hope to see everyone from Zoro to Sacagawea."

There will be cash prizes for the best dressed.

You can also meet Charles Lawlor, the actor who played Mr. Melvald in "Stranger Things," the Netflix show shot in metro Atlanta.

You can buy tickets online, and parking will be $5 in cash only. Children under 3 are free. The gates open at 6 p.m., the rodeo begins at 8 p.m. and lasts about two hours.
