Q: My husband is looking for a roll-on product to use for razor bumps, which are a real problem for him. The brand is B&C, but I can’t seem to find this. Please help. Thank you. — Ann Winters, Alpharetta

A: B&C Skin Tight extra strength is formulated to ease razor burn, bumps and ingrown hairs in an easy-to-apply roll on. You’ll find it at Sally Beauty, 2622 Holcomb Bridge Road, Alpharetta, 770-594-8076. The 3-ounce bottle costs $11.99.

Q: I used to be able to find Wright’s liquid smoke, hickory flavor, in Whole Foods, but no longer. According to the ingredient list, it only contains water and natural hickory smoke concentrate. All other brands have extra ingredients added. Any chance you can still find it somewhere? Thanks. — Peggy C.

A: Peggy, although the representative I spoke with said that Wright’s was available in the area, she couldn’t find a location. But, the good news is that my source at Kroger found it in the store’s system as a customer request-only item, which means you’d have to go to a Kroger store and submit a customer request form. Since a little Wright’s liquid smoke goes a long way, you could easily stock up with a few bottles and never have to worry about running out again.

Q: Howard Johnson motels and restaurants have been gone for many years. My wife and I used to stop for a quick lunch at the Howard Johnson located at the I-85 exit in Gastonia, N.C. One of our favorite lunches was the fried clam strips with a cocktail sauce. They were terrific! These fried clam strips were available at other Howard Johnson locations, but Gastonia is the easiest to recall. Since Howard Johnson is no longer in business, is it possible that this item might be available elsewhere? This was a popular item but we’ve not seen it elsewhere in our travels. Thank you. — Ted Debreceni, email

A: Ted, while there’s still a smattering of hotels with the Howard Johnson moniker, they’re not the ones you remember. Locally, I found a couple of options for your favorite fried clam strips, for which Howard Johnson restaurants were famous. Bay Breeze Seafood Restaurant, 11440 Tara Blvd., Hampton, 770-471-9701, serves fried clam strips in two sizes: the regular platter sells for $8.50, and the large is priced at $10.95. While J.R. Crickets, 129 North Ave., Atlanta, 404-389-9464, might be known for its myriad chicken wings, the restaurant also keeps fried clam strips on its menu. Served with fries and slaw, the platter costs $7.49.

Q: I am looking for Plum Organics Go Bars. These are snack items presented in the June 2014 Dash magazine as being “new on shelves this summer,” but I haven’t seen them yet. Are they available anywhere in the Monroe-Athens area? Love your column! Thanks. — Harriette Griffin

A: Plum Organics offers a line of food, treats and beverages for youngsters ranging from babies to school-age kids. Because they’re a new item, distribution is still spotty, but expect more items to roll out. Currently, you can find Plum Organics apple, strawberry and spinach bars for $3.30 for a box of six at Target, 916 Loganville Highway, Bethlehem, 678-975-3060.
