If you are looking to save money on gas this spring, Walmart has an offer for you in nearly two dozen states, including here in Georgia.

The mega-retailer has a discount of 15 cents per gallon now through July 7 at any Walmart gas station if you use a Walmart money card or credit card. (A 10 cent/gallon discount applies if you want to use a gift card instead.)

Along with Georgia, participating states include Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

To find a participating store near you, search by ZIP code on Walmart.com.

But if you’re not going to Walmart, a new trend in high-volume gas stations can also save you some money.

There’s a new wave of gas stations opening around the country, like Sheetz, Wawa, QuikTrip and Racetrac. The idea behind the design of these stations has everything to do with how a woman would feel gassing up, using the bathroom or grabbing a cup of coffee.

The focus on what a woman would like has created a new force in gas retailing. These stations typically sell gas at 10 to 15 cents cheaper than the filling stations owned by big oil companies.

If you take those stations, plus the wholesale clubs, supermarket chains and Walmarts that sell gas, that’s some serious competition for low-volume, high-cost gas stations.

The alternative is to go to those little gas stations with the teeny concrete building in the middle, where the attendant is behind glass.

Instead, why not have a better experience, a safer experience and a lower-cost experience?
