What’s old is new again. At least when it comes to going to the movies.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, drive-in movie theaters are seeing a resurgence around the country as people look for socially distanced, safe entertainment options.

In that spirit, a new ranking rounded up the best drive-in movie theater in every state. For reference, according to the United Drive-In Theatre Owner's Association, there are 305 drive-in theaters currently operating across the country. Louisiana and North Dakota are the only states without an operating drive-in.

"Over the years, some of these retro establishments have closed down, renovated, and then reopened decades later with a new modern feel. However, other drive-ins have remained untouched by time, with the exception of a few minor technological updates," the new ranking, published by House Beautiful, reads.

Here in Georgia, the list gave a nod to Starlight Drive-In off Atlanta's Moreland Avenue. It's been open and operating for about seven decades, maintaining its retro charm.

“Starlight Drive-In Theatre ... became popular in the '50s for its Art Deco style and affordable entertainment. Now, almost 70 years later, the Starlight Drive-In is still thriving,” House Beautiful notes in its roundup.

The drive-in is open seven days a week. Check out the film offerings and showtimes here.

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
