A chocolate craving can be met a number of ways, but a miniature, delectable way to do so is with chocolate chips.
The chocolate chip satiates in cookies, brownies or granola, and, like many niche treats, has a whole day devoted to it, celebrated May 15 every year. If it happens to be chocolate chip cookies you crave, where do you satiate that chocolate longing? Business Insider and Yelp have teamed up to answer that question, so you don't have to worry. Business Insider collected Yelp data from restaurants, delis, bakers and cafes in all 50 states to determine the top chocolate chip cookie in every state, according to the news site. It scoured all reviews that included the phrase "chocolate chip cookie." Each cookie contender was then ranked by rating, latest date of reviews and total volume.
Cookie monsters have but one place to go for the ultimate chocolate chip cookie experience, according to BI's Yelp analysis. Back in the Day Bakery, at 2403 Bull St., Savannah, offers up "old-school" treats in a vintage-style spot.
After visiting Back in the Day Bakery, one Yelp user wrote:
“There was the chocolate chip cookie sprinkled with salt and a huge dollop of chocolate in the middle. My son would not stop mmm-ing.”
Customers at the Savannah bakery also love the "cinnamon biscones" and "bourbon bread pudding," according to Yelp.
Dining critics also have a place in their tummies for the Savannah bakery. In 2015, Back in the Day co-owners Cheryl and Griffith Day received a James Beard nomination for outstanding bakers.
