The Most Rev. Foley Beach will be installed on Thursday as the archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America.

He was elected by the ACNA College of Bishops in June.

The event is significant because it marks the first major leadership transition for the new denomination. Its founding leader, The Most Rev. Robert Duncan, retired in June after serving a five-year term.

The Service of Investiture will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Church of the Apostles, 3585 Northside Parkway and will be attended by a dozen current and retired archbishops representing more than 50 million Anglicans.

Beach, 57, lives in Monroe. He served as the rector and pastor of Holy Cross Anglican Church in Loganville from its founding in February 2004 until December 2013. In 2010, he was consecrated as the first bishop of the Anglican Diocese of the South in the Anglican Church in North America

The ACNA has more than 112,000 members in the United States, Canada and Mexico. According to the denomination, since its founding, the number of churches has grown by 40 percent.
