A four-week course on sewing basics is being offered by a Gwinnett County sewing studio starting Tuesday evening.

Threaded from Heaven has been hosting virtual classes, and the April 28 class is being hosted online.

Class one, which begins at 6:30 p.m. and is instructed by owner Courtenay Christian, tackles sewing machine basics. It's the first in a series of four technique-based classes. Limited supply kits are available, and participants are asked to register for the virtual class, according to the Facebook event page. A supply list is available to download here.

The next classes, which range in length from two to 2 1/2 hours, will cover beginning sewing, seams and darts, and zippers and buttons. Christian will also instruct these classes.

"These skills will later enable you to create an item with a professional finish because you will know how to create the seam or dart the pattern is calling for," the event page stated. "Gaining confidence and a better understanding of Interfacing, Zippers, Buttons, and sew much more. ... Addressing sewing techniques allows you to focus on the construction of the item you will be sewing."

The cost for the full series is $185 per person. Students also have the option to take a “drop-in” class, in which they enroll in a single course. While handouts will be provided in the full lineup, they may not be for the single classes, which each costs $50 per person.
