No one comes to the airport for the food, but many travelers grab a bite before flights or during layovers.
Passengers traveling through Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport are luckier than most when it comes to dining options, according a recent USA Today survey. In the publication's latest 10Best reader survey, Hartsfield-Jackson's One Flew South was voted the No. 5 best sitdown restaurant at an airport.
One Flew South, with a menu described as "southernational," was a James Beard semifinalist for outstanding service in 2014 and 2015. Dishes include a pulled duck sandwich, pork belly sliders, lamb, swordfish and sushi. Atlanta chef Todd Richards developed the menu for the nationally-recognized eatery.
Yelp reviewers also put One Flew South atop the airport’s restaurant offerings. With 934 4.5-star ratings, customers raved about the high-end ambiance, flavor-filled cocktails and “global cuisine, with a refined southern twist.” One Flew South can be found in Terminal E.

Even if there isn't time to sit for a meal, travelers won't be disappointed by Hartsfield-Jackson. In another USA Today 10Best survey, the airport was voted No. 2 in the country for dining.
“The airport has a robust food and beverage concessions program,” USA Today wrote, “with some 150 and beverage locations. Now the dining selection features full-service restaurants such as P.F. Chang’s, LongHorn Steakhouse, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Phillips Seafood, TGI Fridays, Buffalo Wild Wings and Café Intermezzo. Local favorites are also serving up delicious food. Among them: SweetWater Drafthouse & Bar, The Varsity, Atlanta Bread Company, Chick-fil-A, Paschal’s, Atlanta Stillhouse, Ecco, One Flew South and Sweet Georgia’s Juke Joint.”
Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport took the top spot.
Food isn't the only thing survey-takers liked about Hartsfield-Jackson. The airport finished No. 3 for shopping. USA Today cited the 2012 opening of the international terminal, which brought in MAC Cosmetics, Spanx, Tommy Hilfiger, Coach, Michael Kors, Mont Blanc and other upscale shops, as one reason for the airport's popularity.
Also, the Chiroport, where travelers can find relief from headaches, neck and back pain, or just general fatigue before boarding a plane, finished No. 10 on the survey's 10Best airport amenities.
All nominations were made by Airport Experience News and selected by 10Best readers as the best in the industry.
