Q: My favorite perfume is Jessica McClintock. I have looked several places with no luck. I bought it originally at Belk’s. They no longer carry it, nor does Macy’s. I have checked the web with no luck. Please help me find my favorite perfume. Thank you. Barbara Bentley, Cartersville
A: Back in the late 60s, Jessica McClintock bought the Gunne Sax label, and took young women back in time with her collection of flowing romantic dresses heavily inspired by Victorian and renaissance designs. It wasn't until the late 80s that she added a line of fragrances for men and women. While Jessica McClintock fragrance isn't as front and center as it was once, it's still available locally. A 1.7-ounce bottle of Jessica McClintock eau de parfum costs $43.99 at Walgreens, 6090 Lake Acworth Drive, Acworth, 770-966-1230. Although the fragrance is carried online by Walgreens, it's only available in select stores, unfortunately, not at the Cartersville location.
Q: I relocated from central Kentucky to Atlanta several months ago and have been unable to find country ham at local grocery stores. I’m referring to fully cooked county ham in the deli section alongside other deli meats and purchased sliced and by the pound. I’m always directed to the meat department and the uncooked country ham slices, but that’s not what I’m looking for. I hope you can help. Thank you. Mike Kearns, Atlanta
A: Mike, it sounds as if you're looking for the slightly salty, chewy, dried-cured country ham that's often served with biscuits, not the citified boiled ham. I'm going to send you to one of Atlanta's culinary treasures, Sweet Auburn Curb Market, 209 Edgewood Ave., Atlanta, 404-659-1665. This historic public market offers a vast array of merchants, including some meat shops. You'll find country ham for $3.89 a pound at Porky Pig Market, 404-222-0608, and whole or sliced country ham for $4.99 per pound (the price is less if you order more than a pound) at D & J Meats, 404-522-0973.
Q: Could you please tell me where I can find Uncle Ben’s Country Inn chicken and wild rice with seasoning packet. I cut out a recipe using this 5-ounce box and it was delicious. I made it several times during the winter and would like to purchase a few boxes if you can locate a source. Thank you. Diane Tannahill, Gainesville
A: Stock seems spotty, but I spoke to customer service reps at two Target stores that showed a small amount on the shelves. Target, 13055 Highway 9, Milton, 770-225-1780 and the location at 1525 Market Place Blvd., Cumming, 678-455-9618 had some Uncle Ben's Country Inn chicken and wild rice in the clearance section for 84 cents each. When I spoke to the customer service representative at Mars Foodservices, which owns Uncle Ben's, I was told that the products is still in full production but that many major stores weren't ordering the rice mix. However, it seems that it's a regular item at Dollar Tree, 130 John W. Morrow Jr. Parkway, Gainesville, 770-287-8857. You'll find plenty of 5-ounce boxes of Uncle Ben's Country Inn chicken and wild rice mix for $1.
Q: I was at a party over the holidays last year, and received a little gift bag that included a terrific lipstick. I’m nearly out, and I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I love it because the lipstick amount is the same as a regular tube, but the tube itself is much smaller and easy to keep in my pocket. The brand is Bitzy, and the color is cherry bomb. Please find this for me. I’ve gone to every drugstore and even looked in grocery stores and can’t seem to find any evidence that it even exists. I’m not great on the computer, so I hope it’s available locally. Thank you. E. Headley, email
A: I have good news and great news for you regarding your lipstick. Bitzy lipstick in cherry bomb is available at Sally Beauty, 1881 Chamblee Tucker Road, Chamblee, 770-457-1137. That's the good news. Even better, each tube will cost you only $1.69.
