Buyers Edge Where can I find it?

Q: Do you know if Heinz discontinued the balsamic ketchup? If so, it is a tragedy — that stuff is so good! — Stacey Mueller, Cumming

A: Heinz swapped out the white vinegar in its ketchup for balsamic, creating a condiment with a bit of a sophisticated twist. You’ll be happy to know that it’s still around, and I found 14-ounce bottles of Heinz Balsamic Vinegar Ketchup for $2.69 at Food Lion, 59 Main St., Dawsonville, 706-344-3979.

Q: My father loves Canada Dry Bitter Lemon Tonic Water. We found it on a recent trip to St. Martin, but he cannot find it locally. Is there a place where I can buy it here in the U.S. and have it shipped to him? Thanks so much! — Nicolle Morrow Landress, Suwanee

A: Nicolle, I spoke to someone at Canada Dry and she gave me a couple of Publix locations that are supposed to carry the Bitter Lemon tonic water. When I called, I was told that the drink was not a big seller, therefore was no longer stocked. However, you can call or visit Publix, 3370 Sugarloaf Parkway, Lawrenceville, 678-376-3844, and request a special order to have the beverage brought into the store for you so that you can then send it off to your father.

Q: My husband is devastated because I can no longer find his favorite coffee, Maxwell House International Cafe Style original cappuccino. I have checked at Kroger and Walmart and Publix. We’ve tried other brands but they aren’t as good. Hope you can help. Thank you. — Beth Paul, Dawsonville

A: Beth, I have a simple, hassle-free solution for you and your husband that allows you to have plenty of Maxwell House International Cafe Style original cappuccino on hand at all times. Check out www.walgreens.com, and look for your coffee. While it’s not available to pick up in any Walgreens stores, you can order it online, and if you order $25 or more, the shipping is free. Each 8.3-ounce can costs $4.79 each, which is a deal if you get free shipping. If you decide to get only a can or two, then your shipping costs will be more than the price of your coffee — not a good deal at all.

Q: My husband has been making a lot of recipes from Food and Wine magazine. He often comes across ingredients that we have never heard of, but we’re usually able to hunt them down. However, we’ve come across some squash that most stores either don’t carry or have never heard of before (that includes Whole Foods Market). We’re looking for kabocha squash and delicata squash. Any idea where we can find these? Thanks so much for your help. — Julie Bryson, email

A: Kobocha squash, an Asian winter squash that sort of resembles a small watermelon, is easily available for $1.09 per pound at Buford Highway Farmers Market, 5600 Buford Highway, Doraville, 770-455-0770. Delicata squash, with its soft edible skin, looks a bit like a miniature, squatty pumpkin. This seasonal squash is only around for a short time in the fall.
