In 1997, twelve patriotic individuals came together to create a truly unique Memorial Day event; a non-political, non-commercial ceremony honoring veterans and the sacrifices they made in protecting our freedom. That first ceremony attracted approximately 1,800 individuals.

Roswell Remembers. May 27. Displays open at 10 a.m.; pre-ceremony music begins at 10:15 a.m.; ceremony at 11 a.m. Roswell City Hall Complex, 38 Hill St.

Dacula Memorial Day Parade and Festival. Parade begins at 10 a.m. May 27 at Hebron Baptist Church and ends at Dacula High School; festival 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Downtown Dacula, Second Avenue and Broad Street.

Marietta National Cemetery Memorial Day Ceremony. Presented by the National Memorial Day Association of Georgia. Noon May 27. 500 Washington Ave., Marietta.

Gwinnett County Memorial Day Ceremony. 1 p.m. May 27. Fallen Heroes Memorial, Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, 75 Langley Drive, Lawrenceville. www.gwinnettfallenheroes.com.
