National Baptist Congress to focus on education and training

The 109th Annual Session of the National Baptist Congress will be held Tuesday through Friday in Atlanta and is expected to bring at least 2,500 attendees.

Participants include pastors, ministers and lay leaders. This is the first time the conference, which will be held at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis hotel, 265 Peachtree Center Ave. N.E., has been held in Atlanta for more than two decades.

Activities and programs are designed to provide spiritual development and Christian and theological training.

T. B. Boyd III, president/CEO of R.H. Boyd Publishing and the National Baptist Congress, will give the opening address at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Other speakers include Bishop Vashti Murphy McKenzie and Elder Bernard Yates. Yates is senior pastor of Zion Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Pensacola.
