Bach birthday bash: The annual dinner and concert celebration of the music of J.S. Bach will begin at 6:30 p.m. March 18 at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer. This year's dinner will be a fundraiser for the Friends of Music. Dinner tickets are $25 each, and $15 for children under age 12. To purchase, visit the church's welcome center on Sunday mornings or mail a check with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to the church with the label "Bach Tickets" before March 6. Two-chorus concert: The Atlanta Gay Men's Chorus and the Atlanta Women's Chorus, collectively known as Voices of Note, will perform together in a concert called "And Justice for All" at 8 p.m. March 18 at Peachtree Road United Methodist Church. Cooking class and book signing: During the Page From the Book Festival, James Beard Award-winning chefs Nathalie Dupree and Cynthia Graubart will host a cooking class and book signing on March 20 at the Marcus Jewish Community Center of Atlanta. At 3 p.m. in the Kuniansky Family Center, Dupree and Graubart will lead a master cooking class, cooking a recipe from their book. Tickets are $65-$80 and will include the class, a copy of the book and admission to the author talk later in the evening. The second program will be an author talk and book signing with both chefs, which begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the latter are $10-$15. Midweek retreat: During a midweek retreat, participants will spend three days in silence to center on prayer traditionally known as contemplative prayer. The contemplative prayer retreat will be held April 4-7 at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit. Registration is $80-$100 per night, including accommodations and meals. Of note: Congregation Etz Chaim in Marietta will welcome Rabbi Daniel Dorsch as its new senior rabbi in July. Dorsch will succeed Rabbi Shalom Lewis, who has served as Etz Chaim's senior rabbi for over 38 years. Lewis will continue at Etz Chaim as he transitions to an emeritus role.
