Community conversation: Emory University's Year of Shakespeare will host a community discussion about the intersection of artistic creativity, spirituality and social justice beginning at 7:30 p.m. March 25 in the Ackerman Hall at the Michael C. Carlos Museum. The discussion will be led by the Rev. Dwight Andrews, Ph.D., senior pastor of First Congregational Church in Atlanta and an associate professor of Music Theory and African American Music at Emory University as well as actor Harry Lennix, who currently stars in NBC's "The Blacklist" and appeared in "The Matrix," "Romeo and Juliet in Harlem" and "24." Movie screening: The movie "The Sultan and the Saint" showcases two men of faith — one a traveling Christian preacher, the other the ruler of a Muslim Empire — plagued by a century of war, distrust and insidious propaganda while they search for mutual respect and common ground. Fish fry: To celebrate the Lenten season, a fish fry featuring fried and baked fish, fried shrimp plus a variety of sides and beverages will be available from 5:30-7:30 p.m. March 31 at the school cafeteria of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. The meal will be $10 for adults; $8 for seniors 65 years old and up; $5 for children under 12 years old; and free for children under 5 years old. Takeout will be available. Of note: On March 5, 2017, over 600 members of the Atlanta Muslim communities participated in the Atlanta Community Food Bank Hunger Walk/Run. They raised over $20,000 to help fight hunger in Atlanta. Over 18 organizations came together under the Islamic Speakers Bureau's umbrella to participate in this year's Hunger Walk/Run. This was the eighth year that the Atlanta Muslim communities participated in the walk.
