Community concert: Here's a free, festive and fun option for the holiday: a concert and sing-along. At 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 14, Shallowford Presbyterian Church will present "Sounds of Christmas," a 140-member adult and teen choir plus a professional orchestra performing an array of Christmas carols. "People can hear quality music," Emily Floyd, director of Music Ministries, said. "The teen choir [features] 80-plus singers, which is unusual for this day and age in churches. Hannukah celebration for kids: Celebrate and learn more about Hannukah, the festival of lights, at The Children's Museum of Atlanta's special "Meet The Holidays" program. Observed in November or December by Jewish people worldwide, this ancient lighting tradition dates back to the time of the Maccabean army, who entered a temple, found one small drop of oil and kept a lamp lit for eight days. In addition to the educational component, kids will listen to "The Hannukah Hop!" and be able to make a Hannukah banner. Holy family reenactment: St. Bede's Episcopal Church will celebrate "Las Posadas," the liturgical reenactment of the arrival of the holy family in Bethlehem at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21. Traditionally observed in Mexican communities during the final days of Advent, Las Posadas, which means "The Inns," demonstrates how the holy family finds no lodging for the child to be born.
