Gloria, a 5-year-old spayed shih tzu, is a sweet adult dog who was transferred from another shelter, so we don’t know much about her. Toy breeds can be more difficult to housebreak than larger breeds, so Gloria will need proper confinement (use of a crate is best) and a patient owner using positive reinforcement to help her. Shih tzu are generally playful, not too active, and do well in smaller spaces. Gloria will need daily walks and training to help her be her best. Her fur is clipped now, but it will grow out and will need frequent brushing (or she should be kept clipped by a professional groomer). The area around her eyes will need to be kept clean, as well. Shih tzus can be good with kids, but we do not know if Gloria has been around them at all. Children in the home can help with daily care, but should not be expected to take full care of any pet without adult supervision. Please research the breed, and then bring all children (and any existing dogs) to meet her. Gloria has been microchipped and dewormed. She will be available at 2 p.m. today at the Atlanta Humane Society Howell Mill Campus, 981 Howell Mill Road N.W. Sealed bids will be accepted starting at 10 a.m. if more than one party is interested. Please note that the highest bidder must meet adoption qualifications.
