Xena the Warrior Puppy was found abandoned, abused, emaciated and close to death on a Decatur lawn. Friends of DeKalb Animals stepped in and nursed her back to health. Now living in Johns Creek, she's the beloved companion of Jonny Hickey, 8, who has autism. He's been drawn out of his shell of solitude by the love of this 2-year-old mutt. Xena is also the 2013 ASPCA dog of the year and is one of eight finalists for the American Humane Association's Hero Dog of the Year award.
