This was created in 1996... The title is "Untitled." This sculpture was the inspiration for an installation that Fahamu Pecou did in 1996 while he was a student at the Atlanta College of Art. This piece is an homage piece to his mother Betty Ann Pecou who died when Fahamu was 4-years-old. Fahamu Pecou, 4, and his siblings were witness to the murder of their mother at the hands of their father, Alfonso Pecou. Fahamu's father (who suffered from severe schizophrenia) immediately surrendered himself to police custody. Pecou and his siblings were ultimately transported to the small town of Hartsville, S.C., where they were cared for by his mother's relatives. PHOTO COURTESY OF PECOU FAMILY.
