Abandoned rabbits an annual ritual
Each summer, bunnies given as Easter gifts arrive at rescue shelters as full-grown rabbits, their owners abandoning the animals because the novelty has worn off.

A rescued rabbit feeds at The Bunny Bunch, a rabbit shelter for 20 years, in Montclair, Calif. The number of rabbits in shelters across the country goes up every summer because those given as Easter gifts have grown up and the novelty has worn off.
