History: MUST Ministries began nearly 50 years ago with a grocery bus for senior residents and youth programs in North Atlanta. The nonprofit now serves 33,500 people living in poverty in Cobb, Cherokee, Gwinnett, DeKalb, Pickens, Fulton, Bartow and Douglas counties.
Did you know: With a volunteer force of 17,400 people, MUST Ministries connects those in need of food, housing, jobs and clothing with those who are willing to help. MUST runs a summer lunch program that feeds 7,000 children, a senior citizen food program and neighborhood pantry locations in partnership with 38 public schools. Last year, the organization helped 541 people to obtain employment.
Its motto: Serving our neighbors in need.
How you can help: Volunteers are needed to help feed students, deliver food to senior citizens, serve in the food pantry or in one of the thrift closets. Individuals and groups are welcome to volunteer. The donation center accepts food, clothing and household items with the greatest need being food. Financial gifts are always appreciated.
