It’s not every day you see someone wearing a shiny crown and sash at your local IHOP.

On Tuesday, though, Patricia Ford, the reigning Miss Georgia, will batter up, flip and serve pancakes from 7 a.m. to noon at the IHOP restaurant at 5516 Peachtree Industrial Blvd. in Chamblee.
The 12th annual event raises funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Organizers hope to raise $3.5 million was raised.
Ford, a native of Johns Creek and a graduate of Georgia Tech, will compete in the 2017 Miss America Pageant in September in Atlantic City.
Last year, Miss America 2016, Betty Cantrell, flipped and served at the Chamblee IHOP. Overall, 225,000 pancakes were served in Georgia.
IHOP guests across the nation will receive a free short stack - that’s three Buttermilk pancakes. In return guests are encouraged to leave a donation for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and support finding cures and eradicating life-threatening diseases affecting children and families.
National Pancake Day is for one day only and runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with select markets extending event hours until 10 p.m. Since launching National Pancake Day, IHOP has raised $24 million for leading children’s health and wellness charities.
