Mike and Renee Slaughter decided to downsize as soon as the right house came on the market.

They didn’t want to live in a 55-plus community without a yard and needed a lot that was big enough for a pool, which was a must-have for Renee. They also desired to remain near their jobs in Atlanta’s northern suburbs.

When Paran Homes introduced a new ranch design for one of its Cobb County neighborhoods, they were sold. It was half the size of their previous home, which had nearly 6,000 square feet and a basement, but offered an open floor plan, a three-car garage and space for a pool in the backyard.

“Everything just fit us perfectly,” said Renee Slaughter.
